November 2005

NICK DAY IS DRAWN THE £2000 WINNER !!

The Annual Dinner on 19 November was the convivial occasion when over 135 guests sat down to a splendid meal and, after the speeches, when many of those present held their breath to discover whether this would be their year to scoop the Grand Draw prize of £2000!!

In the event it was number 196 that was first out of the hat (plastic watering can!), belonging to Nick Day - an AOB who must be very grateful for the gentle arm twisting that I applied to him one Founder's Day in the late 1980s in successfully recruiting him (reluctantly as I recall) into the 200 CLUB ranks! Congratulations to him and to all our winners over the year, and thanks also for the support of all of you in this very worthwhile fundraising scheme.

Who can compete with our amazing draw where, each year, every member has an almost 1 in 4 chance of a PRIZE!!. Yes, every year, FORTY EIGHT WINNERS (from only 200 members) share nearly SIX THOUSAND POUNDS in prize money, including the GRAND DRAW 1st PRIZE OF £2000 in November, all for just £5 a month? You're right - nobody can!

Remember there are FOUR regular prizes EVERY MONTH, 1st £120, 2nd £100, 3rd £70, & 4th £60 (plus the enhanced value first size to £2000 in November), for a £5 monthly Standing Order subscription. At the same time, all members of the Edward Alleyn Club are winners – sharing, as they do, in the benefits that accrue from a similar sum that the 200 CLUB is able to contribute every year to the main club finances, for use in funding the general activities of the wider club membership. It is entirely due to the support given to the 200CLUB scheme, over the past few years, that the Club is able to undertake (for example) the recently completed clubhouse refurbishment.

Although our membership is fully subscribed at present, there are always new members required to fill the list after occasional resignations from the scheme. Do contact me for YOUR CHANCE to enrol and to join our very happy band of prizewinners!
